Iron ore concentrate is a processed product of natural iron ore, which is removed from its impurities (such as soil, silica, phosphorus, and sulfur) through crushing, grinding, magnetic separation, and dewatering, and its iron (Fe) content reaches about 67% to 70%. This product is used as a raw material in the production of iron pellets and then steel.
Concentrate production process:
Crushing and grinding of iron ore
Magnetic separation to remove non-ferrous materials
Final dewatering and concentration to produce high-grade dry powder
Concentrate uses:
Production of iron pellets for use in direct reduction furnaces (DRI)
As a raw material in the steel production chain
Economical alternative to granulated iron ore in advanced industries
Advantages of concentrate over raw iron ore:
Higher iron (Fe) grade and uniform quality
Less impurities such as silica, phosphorus, sulfur and alumina
Increase efficiency and reduce energy consumption in steelmaking furnaces
Reduce transportation costs due to the elimination of waste materials
